The Tesla Browser Doesn't Understand color-mix
Theater mode, parked only, rgba instead of color-mix, and Pulse and Meshlight on the launcher. The Model 3 Chromium is not the one I develop against.
The Tesla Model 3 browser is Chromium, but it is not the Chromium I develop against.
/tesla used to render the hub in an iframe. Every tile navigated inside the frame, and Netflix, Plex, GeForce Now — all of them — refused to load because they forbid framing. A beforeFiles rewrite in next.config.js now serves public/tesla-hub.html as the top-level document, so a tile can take over the whole tab.
The rest of this site uses color-mix(in oklab, ...). The car doesn't. Same reason I already swapped 100dvh for 100vh: the MCU's Chromium is old enough that those features just don't apply. The hub is rgba() and --accent-rgb, no framework, no webfonts.
Theater mode is a YouTube redirect that hands the page to Tesla's fullscreen window. That window only runs in Park, so Watch and Play go through it and Listen and Drive do not — those tiles open direct so they still work on the move. Pulse and Meshlight sit in the maxwellnixon.com section, pointing at the vercel.app URLs until Namecheap has the CNAMEs. Parked only is not a slogan. It's the car.
